Do you know the difference Between Medical Oxygen and Industrial Oxygen?

We want to discuss medical oxygen and industrial oxygen because this time we are suffering from a big crisis of oxygen so everyone is confused about this difference Between Medical Oxygen and Industrial Oxygen?

Medical oxygen

Try to understand about Medical Oxygen in detail

Medical oxygen is administered in medical facilities like hospitals and clinics.

Medical oxygen is high purity oxygen that is used for medical treatments and is developed for use in the human body.

It’s used during anesthesia, first aid resuscitation for emergencies, life support for patients who can’t breathe on their own, and oxygen therapy.

A common belief is that we are breathing 100% oxygen in our atmosphere. That’s not true. The air we breathe is about 21 percent oxygen and 78 percent nitrogen. The one percent is a mix of other gases like carbon dioxide and hydrogen.

Medical oxygen requires a prescription to assure user safety and patients are getting the correct percentage of oxygen for their needs.

As people are different sizes and require different amounts of medical oxygen for their specific medical conditions, there isn’t a one-size-fits-all solution.

You hear about two different terms ‘industrial oxygen’ and ‘medical oxygen’ interchangeably in different settings but there is a big difference between regular oxygen and medical oxygen in the compressed gas world.

Medical oxygen cylinders contain a high purity of oxygen gas. No other types of gases are allowed in the cylinder to prevent contamination.

Medical oxygen is Certified to contain above a certain percentage of oxygen, and below a certain percentage of impurities. The tanks are certified to be cleaned to a certain standard so that there are no impurities added to the gas by the tank itself.

Medical Oxygen must strictly control the presence of water: As the main component of the cylinder iron, iron + oxygen does not produce chemical reactions that take place once the water is mixed iron + oxygen + water = rust, rust inside the cylinder to produce tiny particles of iron oxide, while also precipitate other reactions It did not only reduce the quality of oxygen, in extreme cases also have adverse effects on the human body. Industrial oxygen medical oxygen to water is better strict control, with a longer period of industrial oxygen cylinders rust often the case can pour water will appear.

industrial oxygen

Try to understand about Industrial Oxygen in detail

Industrial oxygen is focused on uses in industrial plants including combustion, oxidation, cutting and chemical reactions.

purity levels are not appropriate for human use and there could be impurities from dirty equipment or industrial storage that could make people ill.

In practice, both come from the exact same process. Air is liquefied, distilled to separate the oxygen and nitrogen, and the liquid oxygen is evaporated to form gaseous oxygen to fill the tanks.

Font identification through the cylinder bottle
:- industrial oxygen medical oxygen gas cylinders must be marked their name in the bottle and stored separately, so regulate oxygen gas cylinder will be marked under the management of medical oxygen or industrial oxygen in the bottle.

Mainly used for industrial oxygen gas flame processing and other industrial purposes, performing a national voluntary standards, quality requirements are relatively low, more impurities contained in the compression stroke installation process, there is acidic or alkaline water with lubrication into the gas cylinders.

where oxygen used in industrial works.

  1. Metals manufacturing uses: steel production
  2. Multi-industry uses gas welding, gas cutting, oxygen scarfing, flame cleaning, flame straightening, etc.
  3. Pulp and paper manufacturing: oxygen as a bleaching chemical.
  4. Petroleum industry: coal gasification, manufacture of ethylene oxide, propylene oxide,  synthesis gas, etc.
  5. Glass and ceramics: conversion of air-fuel combustion systems into oxy-fuel combustion systems for high efficiency and reduction of NOx emissions.

Oxygen is oxygen, There’s no difference chemically between that used in industry and that used in medicine. The only difference is that medical oxygen is produced in such a way that it does not contain any contaminants, whereas with industrial oxygen this is not so critical.

Both products are usually produced by the same companies and the cylinders have different color bands so that each is only used for the right purpose
